Google does a lot of good moves lately. This will help reduce fragmentation, push their search field in front of another billion eyes, make them used to ask for Android when they „grow up”, increase the audience for their app store and youtube and maps and gmail and other services and end up the balkanisation of a thousand featurephones and low cost old version modified Androids on the market in BRIC/emerging markets, and fight Microsoft/Nokia exactly where they had their strongest last pockets of resistance.
Tim Cook gave an interesting interview to Charlie Rose a few days ago. Charlie asked him to name Apple’s competitors. I think it’s telling that Cook only named Google, even though Charlie asked specifically about Samsung. If Apple perceives Google as their only real threat, this means that Google is doing things right.
Too bad they have a very high P/E, just before the moment when the whole market will probably turn South and high P/E shares will have the most to suffer.
